Sokol Blosser Winery

Dayton, OR

Sokol Blosser is a 5,700-square-foot public tasting room and private events space for one of the founders of Oregon’s wine-making industry. The building provides a range of spaces for sampling the family’s wines and viewing their 100-acre estate. In addition to a tasting room with wine bar and lounge, the building includes a kitchen and dining room, library, private events room, wine storage, and a sunken courtyard. Wide terraces span the indoor/outdoor façade. Most of the wood-framed structure is a single story above-grade with an eco-roof. 103,000 linear feet of regionally sourced wood was used in construction using local construction expertise. As a renewable resource, it fulfilled tenets of the Living Building Challenge, which were followed by the architect and fit into the owner's farming and production philosophy.
