Mid Oregon Credit Union HQ
Bend, ORA new 16,500 square feet, 3-story credit union bank headquarters providing customer retail and drive-through services along with administrative office use for employees. Permitted as a Type V-B building, the main structure will consist entirely of mass timber from Vaagen Timbers, a Pacific Northwest local manufacturer.
The client decided to move ahead with mass timber due to the construction methods many benefits. Project stakeholder values consisted most importantly of honoring community history, practicing sustainability, promoting user environmental wellness, practicing construction efficiency and improving company branding. Mass timber was the perfect building material to reflect and memorialize the history of the Old Mill District's sawmill production while aligning with AEC science innovations and discoveries. Choosing mass timber further enabled MOCU, the only credit union headquarted in Central Oregon, to exemplify their continued devotion to the community by leading the stewardship of the surrounding natural environment.
