Midland Library
Portland, ORThe Midland Library renovation in Portland, Oregon, is a hybrid mass timber structure, transforming this library into a modern and environmentally conscious space. According to Bora Architects, the project enhances the library's role as a community hub by integrating glulam beams and exposed timber columns that add warmth and support to the structure while reducing embodied carbon. The design also includes expansive windows that bring in ample natural light, highlighting the beauty of the wood elements and creating a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere. This open, adaptable layout supports diverse programming for patrons, providing an inspiring setting that aligns with both environmental goals and the library’s mission of inclusivity and accessibility.
