Michael Guthrie is the founding design principal of INFORM Studio where he focuses on vision, culture, innovation and strategy. Michael’s background growing up in Los Angeles with family entrenched in the film industry influences his perspective of design through a lens based on the experiential. He works within a broad sphere of influence that includes accomplishments in the academic realm, architecture and urban place making.

Michael has achieved significant professional awards and distinctions that include over 40 AIA Design Awards, and his commitment to the firm’s progressive work is illustrated by a broad range of projects including hospitality, mixed-use, residential, commercial, urban design and pedestrian bridges.

His work at INFORM spans a 20 year interest in Mass Timber most notably recognized by the documentary completed by KDN Films and aired on PBS, known as "Up From Ashes," which chronicled the innovative sustainable design and construction process for the Ann Arbor District Library, Traverwood Branch, utlizing Ash trees located on the site devastated by the Emerald Ash Bore.
