Peepeekisis Cree Nation Community Hub

Balcarres, SK

This important Cultural facility includes a Community Hall that seats 400 people, a commercial kitchen, Gas Bar and retail outlet, a Council Chamber and Band Office, Daycare Centre and a cultural atrium for community gatherings. Designed to meet the needs of the Peepeekiss community for weddings, cultural gatherings as well as funerals, this much-needed facility is already creating space for growth for this thriving First Nation.
The design for the Peepeekisis Community Hub was largely inspired by the large Pow-wow Circle adjacent to the site. The circular design is also inspired by the Medicine wheel, representing the Circle of Life individuals and the broader community are a part of. Douglas Fir Glulam beams and Spruce Pine Westdek Panels are showcased throughout the building.
