West Vancouver Aquatic Centre

West Vancouver, BC

West Vancouver Aquatic Centre offers a leisure pool, 60m waterslide, 10 spray and bubble water features (including a lazy river and water curtain), 6 lane lap pool with a swimming and diving tank, an adult hot tub, and a family hot tub with ramped access. Curved Glulam beams and purlins were chosen to match the roof structure of the existing pool, which is supported by additional shaped Glulam columns. This project features a Glulam-framed curtain wall glazing system. The ability to have discrete connections hidden within the Glulam was very important, creating an appearance that is clean and streamlined, while maximizing the viewing of the materials used. The surface treatments of the Glulam members is also easily maintained, making it perfect for humid environments.
