University of Washington Tacoma Milgard Hall

Tacoma, WA

Milgard Hall is an interdisciplinary, mass timber building that supports innovation, design thinking, and entrepreneurship. The design and construction exemplifies sustainability, as is particularly visible in Milgard Hall’s mass timber structural system. A central priority for the design-build team, client, and State of Washington, mass timber achieves ambitious low-carbon goals, embodies the region’s context and history, supports the Pacific-Northwest mass timber industry, and serves as a learning tool for the building’s engineering students.
