Rainforest Arts Center
Forks, WAWhen the former performance center was lost to a fire, the community of Forks came together, contributing time and talent, to help create the new Rainforest Arts Center. Designs are both functional and reflective of Forks’ history as a logging town. Since opening, the building has seen significant use, hosting weddings, chamber of commerce meetings, film screenings, classes, special events, the Twilight anniversary festival, and even Washington State Supreme Court sessions. Honored Forks’ history as a timber and logging town. The building’s floor plan resembles a large circular saw and wood is central to the design, incorporated in sophisticated, contemporary ways. Celebrated wood as a design element. Outside, exposed glulam beams and wood decking set the tone, while inside, heavy timber columns and beams create a strong structural framework and balance more delicate interior elements.
