Academy of Richmond County

Augusta, GA

Set in Historic Augusta Georgia, the Academy of Richmond County is a three-story above grade educational facility that underwent a complete interior restoration. All existing solid-sawn floor joists were removed and replaced with Boise Cascade BCI®-60s Joists, and the roof was converted from dimensional lumber to BCI® Joists. The shell of the building is brick and mortar construction, and the inside is a mix of wood floors and concrete walls. The design team at Dickinson Architecture used the existing block structure to hang the floor systems, which comprised of BCI®-5000s and BCI®-60s Joists.

In all, this renovation that stared in 2023 used a total of six truckloads of Boise Cascade Engineered Wood Products over the course of the construction. All products were delivered to the jobsite by Maner Supply, and most importantly school was able to remain in session as construction continued.
