Washington Latin Public Charter School Gymnasium
Washington, DCWashington Latin Public Charter School Gymnasium is Washington, DC's first cross-laminated timber project. Completed in 2016, the gymnasium demonstrates how mass timber can be used to cost-effectively create extraordinary spaces that support student well-being. The post-and-beam structure features long-span glulam beams with cross-laminated timber roof panels. The design team overcame code challenges to deliver a solution that utilized the cross-laminated timber as the structural diaphragm and shear wall system. The end result is a warm and welcoming space for the school community.
