Kelset Elementary School

North Saanich, BC

The design of Kelset Elementary School makes extensive use of wood to embrace a warm, West Coast aesthetic. The 16-classroom school includes a library, gymnasium, multipurpose room, daycare, and a specially outfitted art and music facility. Clerestory windows in the hallways and library provide daylight from above while interior glazing provides natural lighting to interior corridors and classrooms. To further enhance a sense of community at Kelset Elementary, the gymnasium and multipurpose rooms are available to local residents for weekend and evening classes. The school was designed to meet LEED Gold standards.
