Friday Harbour Club Resort
Innisfil, ONLocated on the shores of Lake Simcoe, approximately one hour north of Toronto, Friday Harbour is an upscale resort near Big Bay Point. Designed for those seeking the benefits of a waterfront lifestyle and the amenities of an urban community, it offers Canada's largest all-season inland marina, an 18-hole golf course, a 200-acre nature preserve, a fitness center and several on-site shops and restaurants. In July 2021, Friday Harbour officially opened the Lake Club, a central attraction for the Friday Harbour community. Overlooking the marina, the 35,000-square-foot club offers Friday Harbour residents exclusive access to amenities such as a scenic pool, fitness center, private indoor theater, daycare, game room, and indoor and outdoor restaurants.
The client chose to use wood not only to emphasize its aesthetic beauty, but also to blend in with the natural forest area that surrounds Friday Harbour. The tall, airy design blends seamlessly with its location, while the structural wood elements add to the interior and exterior design features. The structure uses just over 3,500 cu. ft. of black spruce glulam and 25,000 cu. ft. of spruce-pine-fir nailed laminated lumber finished with a clear stain to keep the natural grain of the wood exposed inside and out.
