Life Sciences Building

The Life Sciences Building at Washington State University Vancouver is a 60,000-square-foot, three-story research facility that integrates the university's life sciences programs, including biology, chemistry, nursing, psychology, neuroscience, and molecular biology. Completed in 2024, the building is designed to foster collaboration and innovation among students and faculty.
A standout feature of the building is its use of Mass Plywood Panels (MPP) in the structural envelope and roof. These prefabricated panels, crafted from small trees and wood waste, replace traditional materials like concrete and steel, significantly reducing the building's embodied carbon footprint. The MPPs also enhance thermal performance, contributing to energy savings and improved indoor comfort. The design prioritizes sustainability and wellness, aligning with the university's commitment to environmental stewardship.
