The Meadows Community Recreation Centre
Edmonton, ABThis facility includes two NHL-sized rinks with room for 700 spectators, as well as a fully accessible ice sheet for sledge hockey. The project achieved LEED® Silver certification for features such as a vegetated roof, re-use of waste heat for the seating area, and reduced water consumption.
The Meadows Community Rec Centre provides year-round recreational and cultural activities for the surrounding local and regional neighbourhoods. The facility emphasizes transparency to create active spaces that are welcoming and open all year long. Douglas Fir Glulam was chosen to help emphasize and create an environment that is both visually appealing and healthy.
