Statehouse Varsity
Tallahassee, FL
Statehouse Varsity is located across the street from Doak Campbell Stadium, providing access and great visibility for the community as well as engagement with the FSU campus. The site is a mere ¾ of an acre and houses 48 units and 228 beds, most of which consist of large 4 bed 4 bath units and higher.
The limited footprint and grading posed a few challenges in creating the access and coordinating of parking, ground level and elevated pool deck amenities. While small in comparison to some of the other communities in the area, Statehouse Varsity is a gem and has the feel of a boutique apartment.
Its elevated central pool deck provides both an oasis and a vantage point during bustling game days. The building’s double-loaded corridor has units facing outward to the city and units facing the courtyard. Units with through views of the court and city occur at the ends of the corridor, framing the luscious pool deck. The narrow site required the units to be equally narrow in proportion, in order to achieve the desired density.
