Madonna University Franciscan Center for Science & Media

The Center offers several new specialized labs for astronomy, quantum physics, genetics and microbiology for science students. Media students enjoy state-of-the-art TV studio/sound stage and 16 individual media work stations. Cinematography equipment, visual effects software and a green screen allowing students to create some of the latest special effects are also available to broadcast and cinema arts majors. 

Not only is it the first stand-alone structure that Madonna University has built in 40 years, it was also the first LEED certified building in Livonia, Michigan. Sustainable construction materials used in the building include mass timber joists, wood decking, cork, bamboo, recycled content carpeting, Type-N brick mortar and low Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) paint. A generous amount of natural lighting, a partially sedum-covered roof, and a carefully orchestrated water system round out the sustainable components of the building.
