Confederation College SUCCI Wellness Centre - Minowaadiziiwin

Thunder Bay, ON

Located in Thunder Bay, Confederation College is a national leader in Indigenous education. The new building incorporates a 2-storey recreation centre including a competition-sized gymnasium, a running track, weight-rooms, multi-purpose areas, and ancillary support amenities. Minowaadiziiwin (which means “to lead a good life”) is reflected in the facility’s programs, as well as its design and architecture, both of which celebrate the Indigenous cultural values of northwestern Ontario. The use of glue laminated timbers in the construction creates a connection to nature and honour's the importance of sustainability.
