Cedartree Hotel

Hillsboro, OR

The building design intent merges Japanese style with the Pacific Northwest in Cedartree a new 4-story hotel, first in the United States for an established hotelier from Japan. The building is a light wood frames, type VA, structural frame of four stories, with engineered wood floor joists, wood beam framed floor, open web trusses, and pre-manufactured wood roof trusses. Wood-framed shearwalls with hold-down rods provide the lateral support of the structural. The first floor contains traditional Japanese Onsen baths and require long open rooms for the baths, gathering spaces, and restaurant. A rough hewn cedar wood timber frames traditional Japanese style onsen structure in the outside bath.
